Before the spin-off of Active Alpha, Renato Amrein was Head of Product Management at Horizon21 Active Alpha. In this role, he was responsible for all operational aspects of running the firm’s hedge fund products. He joined Horizon21 in 2005.

Previously, Renato Amrein was at Partners Group where he was responsible for the operation of their hedge funds managed account platform. In 2000, after his studies, Renato Amrein joined saisGroup which was acquired by Partners Group in 2001. From 1993 to 1996, he gained experience in the Back and Middle Office of BZ Bank in Zurich before becoming Assistant Portfolio Manager at Credit Suisse Asset Management from 1996 to 1997. He started his career after finishing his banking apprenticeship in 1993 at Valiant Bank (formerly Volksbank Willisau) in Sursee, Switzerland.

He holds a degree in economics and business administration from the High School of Economics and Business Administration of Lucerne, Switzerland, where his major courses of study were finance and banking.
